Florence, My Pretty!

Florence, Italy is definitely one of my favorite Italian cities. It’s beautiful. It’s not the same beauty as Venice, but it is one of the most beautiful cities that I’ve been to so far. There are so many things to do there as well. You won’t be bored or running out of things to do.

Food in Florence is amazing. There are so many places serve delicious food all around the city. One of my favorite spots in Florence is the Mercato Centrale Firenze. You can find everything food related here from fresh produce, meat, cheese and they have a big food court upstairs with fantastic restaurants.

You can find restaurants that serve pasta, pizza, gelato, sandwiches including Lampredotto (the tripe sandwich special for Florence), sushis, vegan food, and a lot more! It’s definitely a must visit when you are there. I went there twice and I had the Cacio de Pepe for my first visit and the Lampredotto for my second visit. Both were delicious and affordable.

Another food specialty of Florence is the Florentine Steak. Trust me, you will need to try this delicacy. The steak was so juicy, tender and melt in my mouth. Some places offered this dish in a multi course meal so you can get appetizer, pasta, Florentine steak, dessert and wine. You can also buy just the steak as well but I definitely went with the multi course meal because it was a good deal.

Besides eating delicious food in Florence, I loved the museums they have there. There are so many museums but there are two that are famous because of art in these museums. The statue of David by Michelangelo is at Accademia di Firenze. I think this statue is one of my favorite pieces of art. David is so perfect and it definitely caught my breathe when I saw it in person.

The next famous art piece in Florence is The Birth of Venus painting by Sandro Botticelli. This painting is at the Uffizi Gallery along with some other famous art pieces. Both museums are truly excellent. The Accademia is smaller than Uffizi but it’s so worth it to see The statue of David.

Another famous landmark that you will need to visit is the Florence Duomo. This Duomo has a different style than the duomo in Milan. It’s amazing and really elegant. There’s usually a long line to check it out, so you might want to come early or late to the closing time to avoid crowds.

My favorite spot in Florence, is definitely Piazzale Michelangelo. You can see the Florence from this Piazzale. You can take a bus to the top or some people like to hike up there. The view is breathtaking and it’s simply one of the best spots in Florence that you shouldn’t miss.

There are so many things you can do in Florence and it’s so close to other smaller cities. I took a day trip to Pisa from Florence. The train system in Italy is just so efficient and fantastic, so make sure you take some day trips when you are in Florence.

I highly recommend this city for people who love art, delicious food, and beautiful scenery. Oh Florence, you are so pretty!
